RESEARCH DIVISION

Dear Dora, Editor:

This is a picture of an insulator that I recently obtained in a trade.

I looked in Milholland's book No. 2 and couldn't find one like it. I thought maybe you or one of your readers could give me information on this insulator.

It is 4-1/8 inches tall, 3-1/4 inches wide on base, aqua in color, smooth base, and no embossing.

I have been collecting just since April and have this new found hobby.

Your magazine, Crown Jewels, has been a big help to the growth of my knowledge on insulators.

Thank you.

Dear Reverend,

Your insulator is a very desirable one, and I did find it listed in Milholland's first hard cover book, Most About Glass Insulators, page 113 - CD #181. It is nicknamed "Pluto", "Hound", or "Dog Ears". These were originally found in or around mines in the Colorado area, but I've been told that some have recently been found in your area - Indiana.

This insulator is also listed in several other books, but with no information about the manufacturer, etc. To my knowledge no patent information has ever been found. If it has, we would like to hear about it.

Thanks for writing.
Dora
